Collection and storage of cord blood, storage of the umbilical cord
How it works
Stem cells are the precursors of all cells in the body. In the event of illness, they can replace any damaged cell and become a blood cell, organ, or tissue.

Hematopoietic stem cells are distinguished, which participate in the blood formation system and form the immune system, as well as mesenchymal stem cells, which differentiate into cells of bone, connective tissue, blood vessels, and smooth muscles.
Umbilical Cord Blood
and Umbilical Cord
Umbilical cord blood remains after the cord is cut and is an ideal source of hematopoietic stem cells for the treatment of blood and immune system diseases in humans, as well as other previously incurable conditions (such as leukemia and other types of cancer).

The umbilical cord is a rich source of mesenchymal stem cells, which are already being used in the treatment of heart diseases, for growing new blood vessels, skin, and for the regeneration of the liver and brain.
Collection of Umbilical Cord Blood
and Umbilical Cord
Notification by a representative of Safe Placenta BioBank to the obstetrician-gynecologist about the collection of biological material (umbilical cord blood, umbilical cord).
Conclusion of the Contract
The collection of umbilical cord blood and the umbilical cord is performed by an obstetrician-gynecologist who delivers the baby. This can occur during both natural childbirth and cesarean section.

The procedure is completely safe for both the mother and the baby and is carried out without physical contact with the newborn.
Delivery of the thermal container for collecting biological material to the specified maternity hospital within the agreed timeline with the client. Transportation of your valuable biological material from any area in Texas by a licensed courier to our center in Austin.
Delivery of the Thermal Container and Biological Material to Safe Placenta BioBank
After the baby is born, the obstetrician-gynecologist places the collected biological material in the thermal container and completes the accompanying documentation.

Processing of Umbilical Cord
Cryopreservation and Long-Term Storage of Umbilical Cord Blood
and Umbilical Cord
Using a programmable freezer, umbilical cord blood and/or umbilical cord tissue are cryopreserved.

The frozen biological material (stem cells from umbilical cord blood and other biological materials) is stored in Dewar vessels in liquid nitrogen at a temperature of -196 °C. A sample of umbilical cord blood and/or umbilical cord can be obtained upon first request.

If necessary, Safe Placenta BioBank for cell therapy can arrange safe delivery of the sample to any medical institution in Texas. Transportation of frozen biological material must be carried out in a Dewar vessel in liquid nitrogen.
